Unfurnished apartments completely leased; strong demand for corporate stays

WICHITA, Kan., Jan. 22, 2015 — At a special on-site event today, WaterWalk Hotel Apartments founder and Consolidated Holdings chairman Jack DeBoer thanked partners, elected officials and community leaders for their support. He talked about the success of the flagship property here, and about national growth of his fifth brand.

“I’m proud to announce, as a result of WaterWalk’s six-week lease-up (selling out unfurnished apartments) and overwhelming acceptance from the corporate market, we currently have 35 franchise sites in various stages of development,” says DeBoer. “The market for WaterWalk is huge. The Highland Group (a respected industry analyst) projects the market for WaterWalk to be more than 450 properties in the U.S.

“What’s brought on this success? We have a unique offering — both a hotel and apartment — with the space and lifestyle of an apartment and the amenities and services of an upscale hotel. It’s two businesses in one location, with all-inclusive pricing,” says DeBoer.

National growth is expected to be primarily through franchises. Construction is expected to start the first half of 2015 on additional properties, with three key cities most likely to be first: Tulsa, Okla., Louisville, Ky., and San Antonio.

Entrenched in WaterWalk’s team culture is delivering exceptional guest service, says president, Jon Wohlfert, “When our guests have a request, we start by saying ‘Yes…Now what is the question?’ ”

Along with access to the 24/7 on-site team, other top likes cited by guests are:

  • All-inclusive pricing,
  • Security and gated entry,
  • Entertainment and restaurant choices in Delano and downtown,
  • Quick access to Kellogg, and
  • Free health club membership (Genesis at the Wichita Ice Center), just a few steps away.

Groundbreaking for Wichita’s WaterWalk Hotel Apartments was in July 2013. The first guests moved in last fall.
